Summary

Book 1: THE NOWHERE EMPORIUM

When the mysterious Nowhere Emporium arrives in London in the autumn of 1940, orphan Daniel Holmes stumbles upon it quite by accident. Before long, the 'shop from nowhere' and its mercurial owner Mr Lucien Silver draw Daniel into a breathtaking world of magic and enchantment. Recruited as Mr Silver's apprentice, Daniel begins to learn the secrets of the Emporium's vast labyrinth of passageways and rooms, rooms that contain wonders beyond anything Daniel has ever imagined. The Emporium dances through time, from wartime London to 1920s New York and a host of destinations between. But beneath the sparkling facade, there are signs all is not well. Mr Silver seems to grow older every day, and Daniel discovers that his boss is stealing imagination from his customers in order to keep the shop running. When Silver disappears, and a shadow from the past shows up, it's up to Daniel, (and Mr Silver's free-spirited daughter, Ellie), to unravel Silver's dark history and uncover the shocking secret to the Emporium's existence. But this won't be easy. Starved of its creator's power, the Emporium - and all of the Wonders within - begin to crumble. Ultimately, it's a race against time for Daniel to save his beloved, bewitching home, and the lives of his friends, before the magic of the Nowhere Emporium is lost forever.
