Remaining at St John's, he was awarded a D.Phil. in Literae Humaniores (Ancient History) in 1994. He has appeared on History Channel documentaries and the television game show Time Commanders, serving as an expert on battles being fought by the contestants. .

    Adrian Goldsworthy (born 1969) is a British historian and author who specialises in ancient Roman history. He studied at St John's College, Oxford University. Remaining at St John's, he was awarded a D.Phil. in Literae Humaniores (Ancient History) in 1994. He taught part-time at King's College London and was an assistant professor on the University of Notre Dame's London programme for 6 years. He has appeared on History Channel documentaries and the television game show Time Commanders, serving as an expert on battles being fought by the contestants. In 2010 he began writing a series of military novels based in the Napoleonic era and concentrating on Wellington's redcoat army. The series include TRUE SOLDIER GENTLEMEN (2011), BEAT THE DRUMS SLOWLY and SEND ME SAFELY BACK AGAIN.
