Book 11, PLAN FOR THE WORST, to be published in April 2020

A spin-off, DOING TIME, has been published. Translation rights optioned for this latest in Germany, France, US, Sweden, Hungary, Italy, Japan

The series was originally published by Accent Press and have so-far sold hundreds of thousand of copies and garnered thousands of 5* reviews on Amazon.co.uk

Really good fun. The voice is warm and energetic and Max is a brilliant character, the perfect fearless protagonist thrown into an incredible situation. It is described as "a wild mix of history, adventure, comedy, romance, tragedy, and anything else the author could think of."

Pitched in comparison to Jasper Fforde and Ben Aaronovitch and described as "Dr Who meets Harry Potter with some Jurassic Park and Terminator thrown in for good measure. "

First in a series, nine volumes of which were previously published as e-books and by Accent Press. Headline will release the 10th novel, HOPE FOR THE BEST, followed by new print editions of the backlist in July 2019.

Jodi Taylor is a British writer. , and always has been, a history nut. Her CHRONICLES OF ST MARY'S began as a self-published book. It’s now a bestselling, wildly addictive series.

Summary

Book 1: JUST ONE DAMNED THING AFTER ANOTHER

Madeleine Maxwell, a 20-year-old historian, is invited for an interview at St Mary’s, a research institute. She soon finds that behind the seemingly innocuous façade of St Mary’s, a different kind of historical research is taking place. They don’t do ‘time-travel’ - they ‘investigate major historical events in contemporary time’. Maintaining the appearance of harmless eccentrics is not always within their power – especially given their propensity for causing loud explosions when things get too quiet.
Meet the disaster-magnets of St Mary’s Institute of Historical Research as they ricochet around History. Their aim is to observe and document - to try and find the answers to many of History’s unanswered questions, and not to die in the process. They follow the catastrophe curve from 11th-century London to World War I, and from the Cretaceous Period to the destruction of the Great Library at Alexandria. Wherever Historians go, chaos is sure to follow in their wake.
