    Martin Cruz Smith is an American writer. His novels include GORKY PARK (1981), STALLION GATE (1986), POLAR STAR (1989), RED SQUARE (1992), ROSE (1996), HAVANA BAY (1999), WOLVES EAT DOGS (2004), STALIN’S GHOST (2007) and THREE STATIONS (2010). His most recent novel prior to THE GIRL FROM VENICE, TATIANA (2013), continues the Arkady Renko series. A recipient of the CWA Gold Dagger for fiction in the UK, he is also two-time winner of the Hammett Prize in the United States. He was awarded the Italian Grinzane Cavour Prize at the Piemonte Noir Festival in 2008.
