Summary

The life of Maria Callas, from her childhood to the first successes and then the worldwide acclaim as "La Divina" who changed opera forever. Her marriage, her love story with Onassis, Onassis’ betrayal, the personal and professional relationship with Pasolini, the depression, the last tournées and the solitude of her final years in Paris are all narrated in the first person or commented on by other characters: her parents, her first husband, Renata Tebaldi, Zeffirelli, Luchino Visconti, Elsa Maxwell, Elvira de Hidalgo, etc. This graphic novel stresses Callas’s unique talent and the birth of a myth but also her condition as a working woman torn apart by an unhappy childhood, commitment to her career and troubled love stories. The author imagines Maria Callas as split into two: Callas the diva and Maria the insecure woman dreaming of a happy marriage and stability.
