Summary

Set near Auckland, New Zealand. Cynthia attends fitness classes at her instructor, Anahera’s, home and watches her closely as she follows her instructions. Cynthia participates in a private class along with a select small group, all of whom used to attend Anahera’s class when she worked at the gym. The rest of the class feel like Anahera’s standard has slipped, but Cynthia passionately defends her. She tries to persuade Anahera to give her one-on-one classes, but she refuses.

However, one day Anahera shows up at Cynthia’s door declaring that she is divorcing her husband after he caught her cheating on him. Cynthia welcomes her with open arms, immediately agreeing to help her come up with the money to leave – if only she can leave with her. She drains her dad’s account of over $16, 000 and says that they can use it to start over. They leave with some possessions and Cynthia’s dog, Snot-head, in tow and buy a boat called Baby. Cynthia’s happiness is threatened, however, by an incident involving a boy called Toby and the arrival of Gordon, who has a link to Anahera’s past and invades their lives aboard Baby.
